Extended Day/Before and After School Program

Each year, the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) surveys our school community to determine the need for an extended day program at the school for students from JK up to age 12.

This extended day program will be offered before and after school and is meant to compliment the regular day school day. Because it would be offered at our school, the extended day program would provide a seamless day for students. Early childhood educators would deliver the Ontario Ministry of Education's Extended Day Program curriculum which includes recreational and social opportunities for children, homework help, and nutritious snacks.

Hours of Operation (Not operating in 2017/2018)

Morning: 7:15 a.m. until school day begins

Afternoon: When school day ends until 6:00 p.m.

  • Available on regular instructional days only (approximately up to five hours per day)
  • Parents will be responsible for dropping off and picking up their child
  • The extended day will not be offered on PA Days or holidays or school breaks

Fees

The RCDSB is required to charge fees to recover the costs associated with operating the extended day program. Parents can choose to have their children attend only one of the care sessions (morning or afternoon). Costs are payable on the first day of the month.

Registration will be done by the schools and a non-refundable deposit is required with the registration form. Actual registration numbers will determine if the program is offered.  Fees, should the program run will be determined by the RCDSB.

Subsidies

Subsidies will continue to be available for some families from the County of Renfrew based on financial need. View the County of Renfrew's Child Care Fee Subsidy Guidelines for Families for details.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will the RCDSB provide busing or other transportation to and from the Extended Day Program?

    • No. Transportation to and from the extended day program is the responsibility of the parents/guardians of the child.
  • Will all schools with full day kindergarten offer the extended day program?

    • No. Sufficient registration numbers will dictate whether a program is offered. Usually a minimum of 15 students is required for the extended day program to be offered at a Full Day Kindergarten school.
  • How can I apply to work for an extended day program?
    • Qualified early childhood educators are invited to visit the RCDSB's jobs page and apply.
  • Can I enroll my child for only one or two days a week?
    • Programs run by the RCDSB allow for parents to enroll their child for specific days providing that the days are consistently the same each week. Third party providers of programs cannot do this.
  • Can I enroll my child mid-year?
    • Yes. Fill in a registration form close to the time of year when you need your child to enter the program.
